Your tour on the second day begins with the drive to Changunarayan Temple in Bhaktapur in a private car. The temple of Changunarayan dating back to the fourth century is enlisted to UNESCO World Heritage site. On reaching there, you will be able to observe a two-story pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and surrounded by ancient carvings and statues. Having survived the devastating earthquake in 1702 and 2015 respectively, it is said to be the oldest Hindu temple still in use in the Kathmandu Valley today. From there we walk towards Nagarkot, a beautiful hillside scenic spot with some exquisite hotels which may take us around 3 hours. The village is a vantage point for panoramic Himalayan scenery as well as unobstructed sunrise and sunset views. Furthermore, you will also be able to witness the captivating landscapes and the Kathmandu Valley. We stay overnight at Nagarkot
Early in the morning, enjoy the sunrise view over the major Himalayan Mountains (Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal Range, Langtang, Jugal Range, Rolwaling Range, Everest Range and Numbur Range) of Nepal from your hotel, weather permitting.
After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu and enjoy a full day sightseeing at UNESCO Heritage Sites. Sightseeing at
Bhaktapur, a living museum of medieval art and architecture, is a unique old town famously known as the ‘city of devotees’ as this landmark has a great influence over religion, culture and tantraism. It is a collection of pagoda and Shikhara-style temples assembled around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. The durbar square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces.
Pottery: Enjoy a leisurely guided walk at the Pottery square, where handicrafts are still made in a traditional way. Clay pots are spun and fired in the ancient ways preserving Bhaktapur’s thriving trade-craft. You can indulge and fashion a clay pot and learn about this fascinating process.
Then we will headed to Pashupatinath Temple, a famous, sacred Hindu Temple dedicated to lord Shiva is located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Dating back to the 5th century. While the main temple interior is off limits to non-Hindus there is a lot to experience in the surrounding area. Legend says that whoever comes here to worship Shiva will be reborn as an animal. Pashupatinath is a considerable complex of temples, ashrams, with images and inscriptions dating back centuries.
From there, the tour is directed towards Boudhanath. This is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites and is one of the most imposing landmarks in Kathmandu. It is the largest stupa in Kathmandu Valley. The 36-meter-high stupa of Boudha is massive and dominates the skyline in the area, it is one of the largest unique structures in the world. With countless monasteries around it, Boudha is the center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. From above, Boudhanath Stupa looks like a giant mandala, more of a diagram of the Buddhist cosmos and as in all Tibetan mandalas, four of the Dhyani Buddhas’ mark the cardinal points, with the fifth, Vairocana, enshrined at the center (in the white hemisphere of the stupa).
A representative from Aarya Village Travel will transfer you to the airport approximately 3 hours before their scheduled flight. We wish you the very best on your onward journey.
