Detail Itinerary
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be met, assisted, and transferred to the hotel by our representative. Welcome drinks will be served upon arrival, followed by a briefing on the trek program by one of the representatives from Aarya Village Travel.
After breakfast, you can start your journey by heading out of Kathmandu on the Arniko Highway. The first part of the journey takes you through the suburban areas of the city, but as you move further away from the city, the road becomes more winding and steep. The drive can be challenging at times due to the narrow and winding roads, but the stunning views make it all worthwhile. Along the way, you can stop at various viewpoints to admire the beautiful landscapes and take pictures.
After breakfast in Ramechhap, take a 1-2 hour drive to Manthali airport and catch a 20-25 minute flight to Lukla. From there, begin your trek to Phakding which takes around 3-4 hours and offers stunning views of the Dudh Koshi River, green forests, and the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. Phakding is an ideal overnight stop for trekkers heading to Everest Base Camp, and is a great place to explore the Sherpa culture and traditions. The trek from Lukla to Phakding is a perfect way to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region, and is an excellent starting point for your trek to Everest Base Camp.
After breakfast at the lodge, we set out, following the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River with the majestic Thamserku in view. We cross a stream and ascend a terraced hill, arriving in the charming village of Benker. The trail continues with a series of ups and downs, leading us to Monjo, a quaint village with a few lodges, ideal for relaxation and contemplation. As we reach the lodge, we are greeted by a picturesque, stone-paved walkway that winds through a lush garden, guiding us to a warm and inviting lobby where our trek concludes.
After a calming descent on stone steps from Monjo, we cross a suspension bridge to reach Jorshale, the gateway to the National Park where our guide will handle the entrance fees. Following the river, we traverse rocky terrain and cross another suspension bridge. At the river fork, the right stream is Dudh Koshi, and the left is Bhote Koshi, which leads to Nangpa La. We cross another bridge and walk alongside Bhote Koshi, ascending to Tup Dhara for our first glimpse of Mount Everest. From there, we gradually ascend to Namche Bazaar, where we check into MLN* Namche. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore Namche, including its charming market and the 80-year-old monastery with stunning Thanka paintings. Enjoy an evening of bar hopping or light a butter lamp for loved ones.
After a light refreshment, we’ll head to the Sagarmatha Viewpoint for breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Monjo, and Phakding. We’ll enjoy breakfast at Namche Lodge before trekking northwest towards Thame, avoiding the more crowded northeast trail to Everest. This alternative route offers a peaceful experience with fewer tourists and provides a glimpse into the serene mountain life of small villages.
Thame is a charming village featuring a stunning 16th-century Nyingmapa gompa (monastery) built by Lama Rolwa Dorje. After arriving, we’ll have a late lunch and then relax at the lodge with spectacular views of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. For those interested, we can either unwind at the lodge or hike to nearby monasteries.
We will need a steady pace to tackle the steep trail leading up to Thame Monastery. Most agree that the climb is worthwhile, given the chance to admire the traditionally decorated gompa's interior. After spending time here, we have the option to continue our acclimatization walk to the shoulder of Sumdur Peak Ridge at 4,830 meters. While not a true peak, this spot offers breathtaking views of the valley and the jagged ridges of the Kongde range.
After breakfast, we’ll retrace our steps back to Namche. Enjoy a late lunch and then take some time to explore the bustling Namche market, interact with the friendly locals, and pick up some unique souvenirs. During our stay in Namche, we’ll also hike up to Sagarmatha Next, a 45-minute journey. Situated in Syangboche near Namche Bazaar, Sagarmatha Next is a fascinating showcase of mountain waste transformed into impressive art and design products. This initiative not only aims to shift perceptions about waste but also supports local stakeholders by offering innovative and sustainable solutions for solid waste management.
We’re setting off toward Everest, with the trail adorned by grand chortens, prayer walls, and vibrant rock paintings. You might spot small herds of tahr, the brown mountain goats. As we follow the path around the ridge and descend into the valley, we’ll climb back up through the rhododendron forest to Deboche village. Here, the weather is milder and less windy than in Tengboche, making it an ideal spot for acclimatization.
Gaining altitude from Namche to Deboche means a slower pace is necessary. Take your time and savor the stunning views. We’ll reach our newly-built Deboche lodge in time for a late lunch, where we’ll stay for the next two nights.
On our acclimatization day in Deboche, we will embark on a 3-4 hour uphill hike, winding through vibrant rhododendron forests adorned with prayer flags. As we reach a stunning viewpoint, we will pause for a delightful light picnic, surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views. Following this serene experience, our journey continues to the iconic Tengboche Monastery, where we will immerse ourselves in its spiritual ambiance. The day will conclude with a satisfying late lunch back at the lodge.
After breakfast in Deboche, we will embark on an exhilarating helicopter ride. You'll then have two exciting options. First, you can fly over Kalapatthar to enjoy breathtaking aerial views before continuing to Lukla. Alternatively, you may choose to land at Kalapatthar, where you can step onto this iconic viewpoint and capture stunning photographs. We will then fly to Lukla, concluding this unforgettable journey.
Enjoy a final glimpse of the Himalayas during your short but stunning helicopter flight back to Kathmandu. On clear days, this journey offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, making it one of the most memorable experiences of your tour.
The day is free for rest and relaxation, allowing you time for shopping and personal leisure.
Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Aarya Village Travel will transfer you to the airport for final departure to your home country.
